What Sentences Are Given?
Each offender receives a sentence thoughtfully drafted based on the nature of their offense. Examples of possible sentences include writing an essay about the offense, writing a letter to the victim of the crime, or volunteering in the community for up to 15 hours. Offenders must also go through the Turning Point course and serve as a juror on Teen Court in a future case.
Are There Court Fees?
There are no attorney or court fees as long as the offender and their parent or guardian agree to have the case seen in Teen Court. Teen Court is an optional program that offenders are not required to participate in.
Is There a Dress Code?
Yes, there is a dress code. Defendants may not wear hats, miniskirts, crop tops, or clothing with offensive language. Jeans are permitted as long as they’re in good condition.
