In 1991, Judge Chad Bledsoe created Comanche County Teen Court to provide at-risk youth with a creative path toward self-improvement. The court is designed to provide youth with the much-needed opportunity to course-correct after their first misdemeanor offense and make critical changes in their lives. The court works with offenders as young as 11 to provide intervention and assistance as early as possible.
The Teen Court system provides a supportive community for these teens. This program is designed to provide a place where youth can connect with others and feel comfortable to be themselves. The program has been incredibly successful, as 95% of the defendants that participate in Teen Court do not re-offend.
